I am angry
and a victim
my state of mind in disarray
I want to hurt you
and cause pain
my thoughts haunt me
each day
I walk into a gun shop
they smile at me and say
a gun
why of course
what harm can be done
they don't know
an outburst
the damage it can do
if it wasn't so easy
those lives would be saved
I would rant
I would rave
and hope someone would see
that I'm losing control
and they'd hold onto me
and those lives I did take
with that gun in my hand
If it wasn't so easy
those lives they'd be saved
I was not protecting family or friends
I was given a gun
and that is the end!
I cry when I see this because of the mind-set that sees guns as the answer when the solution must be love, and understanding. This is such a powerful message. Thank you for this.
Well said Annie. Like many other Australians I just can't understand the gun culture in the US. Maybe 150 years ago, but not now. The most powerful country in the world seems to be impotent and/or unwilling to rein in their plague of guns. Very sad.
Well said, Annie. Reading this this morning (Friday) after that horrifying shooting incident here in the UK yesterday, I find your words very insightful and the imagery well suited to the insane world in which we live.
thank you everyone - usually I can see both sides but on the gun issue - well it confounds me
