Gladesville Bridge is an arch bridge near Gladesville that spans the Parramatta River, west of central Sydney, Australia. It links the suburbs of Huntleys Point and Drummoyne. It is a few kilometres upstream of the more famous Sydney Harbour Bridge and is part of Victoria Road. At the time of its completion in 1964, Gladesville Bridge was the longest single span concrete arch ever constructed.
As a child I would walk to the middle of this bridge to watch the New Years Fireworks - not allowed anymore - safety and all that sh*t. I walked that bridge quite a few times in my youth and have been under and over it more times than I can remember.
The river looks rather busy. It is a lovely looking bridge. When one thinks about all the things we did as youngsters that are now considered 'unsafe', how on earth did we get through unscathed?
A fav Annie, love your Sydney shots, as I miss it so much.
I used to go fishing at Clarkes Point Hunters Hill.
Miss the river Cat Ferry to the City.
Lovely shot.
