Pantagonian Mara (Cavy)

May is going to be about Adelaide in my People and Places album - yes- I am behind - ha ha - what's new?
This week I will be posting photos from the Adelaide Zoo.

Patagonian maras may look more like giant rabbits or small deer, but they are rodents. They live on the plains and scrubland of Argentina. Males and females form long-term pair bonds.
Oh how very adorable!!! At first (very quick) glance it looked like the face of a capybara, and if I'm not mistaken the Patagonian maras must be smaller... but it still looks big... I love that nose and those whiskers!!! :) (And no one is as behind as I!)

@kerosene the maras are a slighter build and different shape but remind me of capybaras too - I find both interesting.

Curious! The thin legs don't really match the large body!
