~from the early 80's - took her out for a play yesterday - now just have to get the film developed - I am a bit nervous because I really am camera useless but it was great fun - got a few looks from a couple of blokes who had their fancy Nikon and Canon cameras - I did have my Nikon DSLR around my neck too~
Really funny was when I went to buy some 35mm film with my DSLR around my neck - one of the shop assistants looked down at the camera then back up at me with a "that camera doesn't take film" kind of look on their face. I just said not for this and laughed.
@newbank hahaha I am going to put the film in tomorrow - I started with colour because it is cheaper - if it seems I know what I am doing and the camera is working I want to try b&w lol
Quite a scary thought of not seeing the prints until developed -- I know we all did it years ago and it was a great thrill (and sometimes disappointment ) when we got the prints !! Good lock and I am looking forward to see your results . I have my pre digital camera still in a bag in my bedroom , an Olympus -- I wonder if I remember how to use it !!!
I have an old film camera lurking in a cupboard somewhere. I have no idea where I would find any film for it or where to go for developing said film. It would be cool to know (and maybe even see) how the pictures come out.
lovely shot of a great camera, I dabble with a verity of film cameras and as you say it is scary but the fun of thinking of making all those decisions that digital has made redundant...please show us what you got...
@jack4john what you got? Im getting my grandfathers olympus 10 and 20 from the 80's. Makes me realise really need to think before pressing the shutter!!
@beryl i am excited and nervous at the same time. @salza i googled...surprisingly there are a number of places around. @jack4john i will certainly be showing you...presuming i got anything hahahaha @graemestevens there's old stuff and then there's old stuff lol @pistache i did Clare...colour to start with because it was cheaper...have a couple more cameras to play with so need to see if they work too. @maree_sanderson thanks Maree
Glad to see I'm not the only one that takes out their 35 mm camera for a little photo exercise. I have a Nikon f2 & Rolli 35. One has color & the other B&W. A professional photographer once said this: With a DSLR camera you are grabbing the image, but with a 35 mm camera you are creating the image." Using both types of cameras makes for a better photographer. Have fun! Fav
Lovely story Annie. Must confess I don't yearn for the film era. I found a couple of rolls of film the other day while I was rummaging in a drawer, goodness knows what's on them, if anything.
That's cool - I tried my CanonAE-1, found a photo lab in my area but they charge pretty much for developing- they pictures came out okey but I still like digital- so my canon will be mostly used for props--have fun & enjoy the new /old toy:)!
Every now and then I think about my Yashica FX-3 and the days when I knew what I was doing with the camera but turning a dial. Usually a wistful sigh will escape me, and then I remember how long I had to wait for the pictures to be developed, all the ins and outs of getting those holes to line up with the sprockets and how expensive (and prolific) the duds were and I no longer miss my film camera as much! Nice shot- nice camera!
Feeling the nostalgia… ;-p I bought a Holga pinhole lens last year, that I just today put on my Cosina CT-1a, and I have some long long since expired film in the fridge… ;-p
