Locomotive, Steam 6040 by annied

Locomotive, Steam 6040

The heaviest and most powerful steam locomotive to ever turn a wheel in Australia. It’s massive, powerful and a sight to behold.

Locomotive 6040 was built by Beyer Peacock and Company at their Gorton works in Manchester, England, in 1956. Part of the second order of 25 locomotives, it was completed as works number 7542 and became the last steam engine to enter service in NSW in January 1957. 6040 was withdrawn in May 1967 and transferred to the New South Wales Rail Transport Museum, finally arriving at Thirlmere in 1975.

Great shots Annie. In summer we have different steamtrains still running. Always a magnificent thing to see. Last year I made a gif to see it move. https://365project.org/jacqbb/number-3/2018-09-03
