actually, it's not a 'd' but an "eth" (eph) which is a curved d with a line though the upright. It is a soft 'th' as in 'that' rather than the positive 'th' in 'thing'.
Just looked for the definition of 'bakki' - which first came up as tray! But on further examination can also mean bank - so I presume there is a river here.
