Last night's Zoom art lesson using soft pastels (not oil based ones). I don't like the messiness of this genre, powder smudging everywhere, but I do like the blending and colour changing.
You did a beautiful job here Jak! Personally I like version 3 the best because the mountains stand out a bit more.
If I work with soft pastels I use cotton tip earthingies to blend the colours. And I regularly tap the loose powder on the table, the hoover stands beside me and takes care of the dust.
excellent work, jaxter. aces! (for the future, remember that the farthest object should be at its lightest to give the overall picture more depth.) you surely are branching out to all artistic mediums, something that makes me cower and hide in the hills.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond I really like how you have shown us to progression from start to finish in this collage. Looking at how it started the end results are very impressive
@wakelys teacher adamant shouldn't use oil pastels, must ask her why!!
@summerfield Vikki, I also thought that about distance etc, but it's covered in cloud so would be dark!! I'm enjoying this art course, a real challenge learning new techniques
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Hey smudgey artist! This looks terrific. I like how you documented the process.
I am still afraid of layering and combining colours. But i loooove pastels and their dust and smudging.
