Birds and wine this week. I did the wine glass a while back and see where it could be improved but I decided to post it anyway as a measure of my progress
@grammyn Oooh... seeing these together is so merry and joyful! The wine glass could well be a tulip. It's in the eye of the beholder, right? I just love what happened there with the reds, how they merged on the wet surface. The whimsical birds are simply adorable! I particularly love the effect of the little curls on their tops and the tiny little eyes that make them so lovable. I also like how the colour blobs are a bit offset with the inkline. That is so playful. And the peacock is the cherry on the cake. It is so aerial and delicate. You captured the very essence of that bird. And you didn't even need to include the entire body. Really well done! Keep them coming, maybe some of us (me) procrastinators will be inspired to finally pick up a pen.
the long limbed birds could be characters in a saturday morning cartoon strip. so whimsical. and i do agree with everyone about the peacock - you are a true artist. the wine stem, good thing you didn't drink the wine! aces!
Oh, Katy, how I admire your skills with watercolors; the right amount of water, just the right pigment and the soft bleeds your get. That is my consternation with watercolors, getting that soft merge of cloudy colors as seen in your wine glass and peacock. Such fun!
@30pics4jackiesdiamond I am so glad you like them all. The birds were quite easy but the peacxock took a little more time @salza thank you Sally. It makes me happy to know you like them all @wakelys how nice of you to say Sue. The quirkjy birds were quick and so fun to do @monikozi I can see how the wine glass could be a tulip which gives me an idea for another day. The little birds were copied of course and offset color blobs are somewthing I have had to come to grips with. I always thought everything needed to be aligned perfectly but I am discovering those imperfections are what make it art and more interesting. I hope you find the inspiration to post again soon because you still have so much to teach me. @randystreat Thank you Kathy I actually think your backyard neighbors are prettier bvecause they are so unusual @summerfield so glad you like them all The wine is meant to be drunk in one sitting without setting the glass down LOL @kjarn Oh, KAthy that is so nice of you to say! thanks so much @theredcamera Wow Ellen that is something I never thought I would hear anyone say. I took lessons years ago with oils and it has been a difficult transition for be because of that. The processes are so very different and learning it has been a struggle for me. Just keep practicing and it will come before you know it. I had a lot of failures because I didn't know what i was doing and I still have a lot to learn but trial and error are good teachers. Thank you so much for your encouraging words
@grammyn Katy, I am fighting my own war with embracing imperfection. So, let's do it together. Forget perfection! It does not exist. So how can we forget it? .... oh, i'm losing it...
@monikozi lol! I agree. Just acknowledge that perfection might be a photo and imperfection in a painting is what makes it art? This group has been so supportive in leading me to that concept
