I was curious as to how the hand dyed wool roving that I recently bought would spin up, so used my 5-inch tall drop spindle to try it out.
It took about an hour and a half to draft and spin a single 31 foot long thread of lace-weight wool. Then I plied the strand back on itself, giving me 15 1/2 feet of 2-ply light fingering-weight wool.
