This standard variegated Holly bush was at Nursery when I visited the other day-- I did fancy buying it until I saw it's price !! So I compromised !! looking around the Nursery I saw a smaller one in need of TLC and bargained , got it at a very reasonable price !! So very pleased with myself
I am not looking forward to today as I am off to the orthopaedic hospital (on the Welsh/Shropshire boarder) for a bone scan re osteoporosis . Thankfully my friend is taking me as I could not drive there myself
I'm sure it will flourish with some tlc. They are pretty slow growing aren't they? Suppose that's why they are expensive. Good luck with the scan Beryl.
Well done beryl on your bargain - I always look at the "end of season" stand and often get some bargains. Good luck with your scan today - I hope you get good news!!
I am always buying the plants that look like they need a bit of love. No wonder my garden isn't flourishing the way it should do! Hope the scan goes well, Beryl.
Nicely captured!! Good luck with the scan, definitely worth having,to prevent problems later on.I've been on medication for 10 years, since I broke my wrist in a fall.
@pamknowler Thanks Pam - unfortunately just checking on extent have been on steroids for some time & on anti med to protect against further dev. of osteoporosis !! Now a wait of 6-8 wks before results !
I bought myself this Holly a couple of days ago ... it's called Golden King and I knew it from my flower- arranging days. The funny thing is - it is a female plant and the male is called Golden ( or is it Silver?) Queen!
@smiffy37 QUITE RIGHT Eileen -- It is the Golden King (femail) and the similar male plant is known as the Silver Queen !! and coincidentally the knowledge was also gained from my flower arranging days !!
