One of my favourite ornaments - the black panther . I first came across the black panther when I was only a small child when on holidays with my grandmother at my great aunts home in Wallasey , The Wirral , This panther was on top of a tall mahogany chest of drawers in the bedroom and his glass eyes intrigued me as they seem to be following me wherever I moved in the bedroom . My great aunt on seeing my fascination gave it to me to take home as a present ! . I still loved and cherished this beautifully crafted panther .
A lovely panther to watch over you Beryl and with special memories. Did you watch the BBC wild cat programme last week it is on again this week and very good.
Well Beryl I think you must have been rather a brave & unusual little girl. Not the most likely thing to set your eye in, he looks rather fierce to me even as an adult so you must have seen something in his eyes that attracted you. Lovely that you still love & treasure your panther. Your aunt would be pleased.
A lovely keepsake. I have a few items that belonged to my Nanna and they have special meanings for me. No doubt the panther has the same memories for you too.
What a lovely memory. It's funny how things fascinate you as a child. I remember in my parents in law's house a cigarette lighter shaped like a grenade! The young boy from next door used to visit often and he loved it so she gave it to him.
