Down House

Day 278 - This is Down House, the home of the English naturalist Charles Darwin and his family, they moved here from London in 1842. Charles died in the house in 1882 followed by his wife Emma in 1896. The house was acquired in 1996 by English Heritage and restoration started, it was opened to the public in 1998.

@chrisiow @pdulis @dsp2 @kwind @sangwann @mandygravil @suzanne234 @tonygig @craftymeg Thank you for your lovely comments. It is a lovely house especially inside as they have recreated the rooms using the families photos, diaries and where possible they have used original furniture and belongings.
