Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway

Day 76 - Getting the tracks ready for the re-opening on 2nd May - This line was built in 1905 for transportation of raw materials that were required for the manufacture of paper, the line use to run between Sittingbourne Paper Mill (now closed down) and Kemsley Paper Mill (still in operation producing brown paper and cupboard).

The line which is built to a gauge of 2′ 6″, continues to use the steam engines and rolling stock that were supplied to operate the railway in its working life prior to preservation in 1969, the engines and the lines are all run by volunteers.

@marlboromaam It use to run every weekend and school holidays, but now it seems due to the lack of volunteers it only runs at a greatly reduced service
