The sky was so beautiful as we passed by this Alaskan homestead on our way home from church yesterday afternoon. We had enjoyed a nice Thanksgiving meal there following the morning service; so, this was taken at about 2:30 p.m. Yes, our sunsets come early here in Alaska's Interior in late November! No one appeared to be moving about at this residence. Thus, the title: Hunkered Down
What a warm sky to contrast against the snow! And I imagine the meal with your church family was wonderful! But oh, I would need a lot of grace to bear the short days and lack of sunlight.
@nana Lots of folks buy and use the SAD lights. Funny name, eh, for something that is supposed to help your mood! Stands for "Seasonal Affective Disorder" and replicates natural sunlight and the vitamin D it provides. We don't have one but do take vitamin D all winter! :-)
@calm@atwinfay Thank you, ladies, and, thankfully, when God has placed you somewhere, His grace is in abundant supply! :-) I've drawn upon it more since becoming a grandma to three little boys who live too far away for us to see as often as we'd like...
That's a beautiful sky, and I love its contrast with dark cold homestead--but probably not dark or cold inside where the inhabitants were "hunkered down"!
