Around the World---Always room for one more

That was what the man hanging out the open door would be saying as his partner was driving the streets. This is a microbus in Guatemala. A mini-van with the seats in the back removed. They would drive around and pick up as many people as they could possibly squeeze in. This is there version of public transportation in the smaller towns and villages
Gee i know i would pass on that mode of transport, but great shot Brian, you and Melody have certainly done a lot of travelling.

no seat belts?
nice, eh.
March 9th, 2013
Oh terrific shot!!!! We have the very same vans here! and still very much in use!
March 9th, 2013
@glendq Great shot! Don't think you need seat belts if the van is filled up like this!
March 9th, 2013
Fun one.
March 9th, 2013
looks a bit squashed in there! Lovely candid scene
March 9th, 2013
Great informative shot.
March 9th, 2013
Glad I am not a parent here where road rules are more advisory than anything else.
March 9th, 2013
oh wow, glad I don't have to do that to get around!
March 9th, 2013
Lovely scene and that's so true about squeezing in as many people as possible. I remember that from our travels to some of the Caribbean island. I also recall their driving skills.....a bit scary to say the least :-)
March 9th, 2013
Oh wow, it looks kind of dangerous. Great capture.
March 9th, 2013
Awesome
March 9th, 2013
I think there is some version of this type of transportation in many countries. They are always amusing to see but certainly don't look that safe to be in!
March 9th, 2013
Wow! Wonder how many people are actually inside? Do you remember when it was fun to see how many people you could squeeze into a VW van...this reminds me of that!
March 9th, 2013
What an awesome capture! :) It's fun seeing all those people packed in the bus :)
March 9th, 2013
Plenty of room on top
March 9th, 2013
A scene you can see all over Southeast Asia even today.
March 9th, 2013
When i was in Guatemala we also rode in the backs of small pick-ups, with an A frame of pipe in the bed so everyone could crows in standing up but those in the center could grip the top bar and everyone else could grip those in the center. We were in Santiago Atitlan to work at a small Mayan School there. Later I used the school setting in one of my novels. I love Guatemala
March 9th, 2013
Oh my word....No health & safety here.....But what a great, funny shot!
March 9th, 2013
Wow.
How dangerous is that for the guy hanging off the side.
I love that you show me what I would never see.
March 9th, 2013
No health & safety there then & were are the seat belts? They seem to take life by the scruff of the neck & good luck to them, the less rules the better!
March 9th, 2013
Great street photography and capture.
March 9th, 2013
It's common in many parts of the world - but highly dangerous. Sometimes, however, needs must.
March 9th, 2013
How interesting. I hope he doesn't have to pay to stand outside the transportation.
March 10th, 2013
Sue

Reminds me of a ride I had on a dining room chair in the back of a VW van when I was 12... ;-p
March 10th, 2013
He needs a crash helmet. And knee pads.................and elbow pads.........in fact he needs a seat with a sea belt! I am too much of a wimp to do this; great catch though Brian:0)
