For anyone familiar with the Salvation Army you will understand that term. Tonight Melody and I took in the Salvation Army Festival of Carols. This is an annual tradition where the Salvation Army hosts a free concert with the Army Band and a special musical guest as a way to say thank you to everyone for all of their support through out the year and especially during the Christmas Season.
Melody thought it would be fun to pose beside the Army Kettle as she used to work for the Army during this time of year and she did this for 13 years.
The concert was wonderful and I will post a few shots over the next few days from this evening.
Have a great weekend everyone
Nice photo of Melody! The Salvation Army does such great work. In my community, the Christmas Kettles were out very early this year. I think more people must need help....
Nice photo of Melody. And that kettle is definitely an iconic December sight, isn't it? Oh, would have liked to hear the band....... We are both big "band enthusiasts!!" And God bless the Salvation Army for all they do for so many all year long.
The band I used to play in at school used to perform at the Sally Army Christmas bash in York. It always felt like Christmas was on its way once we'd done that gig! - Lucy
She has the most lovely smile your Melody. We don't have many 'kettles' around my area ( I am assuming these are for donations?). I would imagine there are some in the big cities.
What a good shot for remembering the meeting. The Salvation Army has had a strong presence at the holidays for as long as I can remember. I associate their bells with the holidays.
What a nice photo of Melody and great idea of hers. I bet it was a wonderful concert. I still have this bad upper respiratory virus that is going around so not on here much. Hubby is off 4 days for our Thanksgiving holiday so he is taking good care of me. Last night we made a huge pot of turkey soup from our leftovers. Hope you are feeling ok, Brian.
@aglennc Well Anita I do not know if you are on Facebook or not but in the next day or two we will be posting some of the videos we took at the concert
@aglennc Hi Anita, I had trouble finding you on Facebook as there area a lot of Anita Campbells on FB. You can try and look us up as we go by Melody-Brian Bigam
