Today we attended a memorial service of a long time friend of Melody's family. Mr. Stam and Melody's Dad knew each other as teenagers in Amsterdam. They both immigrated to Canada within a couple years of each other. They both first lived in Calgary. They both married ladies they met in the Salvation Army and within a few years both couples moved to Edmonton.
They each had a boy and a girl the same age as each other. The families lived in St. Albert just a few blocks from each other.
Mr. Stam was a bandsman in the Salvation Army in Amsterdam, Calgary and Edmonton for over 70 years.
