If only we could fast forward to spring! The winter landscape has gotten a bit tiresome these days so late this afternoon I decided to head out and do something a little different. I took some practice shots with the Lensbaby...I still don't really have a handle on this thing yet but it's always fun to see what I end up with after importing. It is definitely going to require more practice before I get the hang of it but its great for breaking up the monotony of shooting the same old landscape day after day!
i was like "whoa this looks lensbaby" and was gonna ask then saw it in your description...der! ya those things are cool...only work for some shots hey! have fun :)
Very cool shot. I do not know what a Lensbaby is (yet) but I definitely want one now..lol I love the winter landscape pics..maybe because it will never snow here :)
Paula,
I have looked at these lenses on line and wondered how they might work in reality. It reminds of the picnic effects focal soften or focal zoom. It is interesting and I hope you share some more. I am very tired of the winter scenery but will reboot myself in the morning and see the beauty.
I was thinking the same yesterday, that my pics were all looking the same. But then I thought how beautiful the snow is and what will I take pictures of when it's gone? LOL! :)
I really like how this one turned out...
@scottwong@lauren211@sarahbeebe@maggie2 Thanks so much for your nice comments! I've been in a photo funk since the first of the year and in desperate need of some motivation....so I grabbed the Lensbaby. Can't use it all the time but it's fun to break out once in awhile! :)
@peggysirk Thanks Peggy, I'm with you.....I'm so waay over it! It's just too much trouble to walk through knee deep snow while freezing your fingers off trying to adjust the camera to get a picture. Warm weather will be such a welcome change.
@stephd@nanascraps Thank you for the kind words! A Lensbaby is a creative lens system that allows manipulate the focus by bending it. The images come out with varying degrees of zoom or wonkiness. It's just a lot of fun to play with. You can also achieve a similar look using Picnik's zoom and/or soften effects.
@wac You can achieve much the same look that Lensbaby creates using the zoom/soften effects in Picnik. I've debated over this system for a long time and when I found a great deal on Amazon last month I grabbed it! Hope today is full of photo ops for you! :)
@hiddencreek Thank you Kari! You made me laugh....I guess the grass is always greener somewhere else or in the future or in the past. As my mom always said....stop wishing your life away! :)
Really fun perspective of a cool (literally) wintry tree. It's so fun to try new things, and that's the one thing that 365 has taught me to do. Think outside of the box. Great photo!
keep those awesome snow scenes comin' paula....we almost never get to see it here. and i love that lensbaby blur...nothing in post can truly imitate it. i have one but don't use it often enough (i have the muse and it's so much harder to focus than the composer that jenn has). thanks for the inspiration!
@pixelchix Thank you Heather for your kind words. I got the Composer last month but haven't used it much...still need a lot of practice but I'm lovin this thing. I can get somewhat similar results with Picnik but I still like being able to get the effect I want while taking the shot or at least I hope to one of these days with a little more trial and error! :)
