Of course, me being a retired Land Surveyor I must always find the monuments and markers. The info can usually be looked up. Elevation etc. Sometimes it is written right on the brass marker. I have set a few over the years, alot on Route 81 through Va. I even found a drill hole where a surveyor set a random point, probably to shoot the lighthouse sidewalk etc.
