Cormorants and swans at Paxton Pits

During a brief break in the incessant rain today we went for a walk to the gravel pits. The area has been developed as a nature reserve and there are apparently over 300 pairs of nesting cormorants here. You can see two here, one is sitting on a branch.

I've always loved swans...it all goes back to the children's story :The Ugly Duckling"...magnificent shot of these lovely creatures.

This could have been taken at our local wildlife reserve- also man made but from a quarry.
