It seems a strange name for a building, but I think it just means 'new building'. The building has survived well for 400 years although was never finished before the death of Sir Thomas Tresham in 1605. The grounds and orchards have been extensively restored to something like their former glory It was a lovely day out with the book group girls.

@sarah19 Actually Sarah it's a National Trust property so has probably already been restored as much as it's going to be. It was never finished because the owner was unable to finish it before he died.
I'm sure it would be a candidate for 'Restoration - Home' which I've just been watching on TV!
