It's raining today so I'm in the kitchen sorting out some produce from the allotment. This is of course beetroot, but it has achieved a new name in our house after our 5 year old Granddaughter came to stay recently. We were trying to encourage her to eat some freshly cooked beetroot, telling her it was sweet, she would like it, it was one of her 5-a-day etc. Her Dad has a habit of re-naming foods to try and entice her to eat things she otherwise wouldn't try. He came up with the name Purple moon-fruit! We all laughed but she tried one small piece. After that she was hooked and even took a jar of the pickled version home. I've used a lomo effect and a focal zoom to enhance the patterns. Incidentally this one weighed 2 lbs 6 oz and was still tender and sweet! It's resting on a white saucer which you can just about make out, so that gives you some idea of the size.
This is so cool..it makes me want some (however, not fond of beets). Lovely capture, set up and processing. What a cool way to convince her to eat something she might not otherwise try. Wish I had thought of that many years ago!
