I chopped my hibiscus back severely earlier this year and was afraid I'd overdone it. However it's now covered in flowers, so I feel I may have done the right thing.
There was also a book called Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche which I've read and absolutely loved.
Good things

4) I played the organ for the service this morning, first time for many weeks
It’s amazing how a hard pruning brings loads of flowers later. Lots going on at your house today…you must be feeling more like yourself. Must check that book out.
I find that playing the piano after a break requires great concentration but must be good for the brain. The hibiscus obviously does well in your neighbourhood!
