We went for a walk in the sunshine this afternoon to gather seedheads, ivy, berries etc for a Christmas arrangement of some sort. Unfortunately by the time we arrived at the local village of Abbotsley the sun had gone behind a bank of clouds. However these seedheads caught my eye alhough they are extremely sticky and stuck to everything - my gloves, coat, camera bag and even my fingers! I think they're called burrs but maybe you have a better name for them? The sun came out again on the way home!
I've just looked up the burdock plant following Ian's identification for me - thanks @fisherfamily. Apparently the drink dandelion and burdock which was popular when I was a child, was indeed made from the roots of the dandelion and burdock plants. The burdock plant has many health benefits.
Good things - it's the church candlelight carol service tonight and I'm well enough to go!
These look like the seed heads of the burdock plant. As youngsters we used to collect them and throw them at each other. They stick really well and were therefore called 'sticky buds'. A nice shot.
@fishers Thank you, I guess that's where the name burrs comes from. Also would this have been the burdock plant from which the drink dandelion and burdock was made? I used to love it as a child.
Super focus, love the colours and capture, I lost a really loved scarf when I was entangled in one of these plants. It’s grip was lethal and all I could do was bin it
A great find as long as you don't try and pick them as you found out. They will look lovely in an arrangement especially if you could spray them gold. Lovely capture.
I believe it was. I was always confused as a child that you couldn't see any bits of these seed heads or dandelion heads in a dandelion and burdock drink!
