Forms in Architecture- Day 15
I am participating in the "Flash of Red" challenge- Black and white photography for the month of February with a flash of red on February 14. The theme for days 10-16 is "Forms in Architecture." I am continuing my own mini theme within the Architecture theme by taking pictures each day of a form of architecture that represents one of the many cultures that make up my very diverse city. So far, I have posted photos of Seminole Chickees, the bell tower of a Greek Orthodox Church, a Hindu Temple, a German restaurant, a Cuban café, and a Vietnamese Buddhist temple. Today, I am adding Polynesian architecture. This is the Mai Kai. The Mai Kai has 8 diningrooms, tropical gardens with a walking path and waterfalls, a gift shop, and a stage which showcases a Polynesian Islander Revue Floor Show. The show, featuring dancers from the South Pacific, is the longest running Polynesian Show in America, including Hawaii. The owners visit the islands where the dances originate to make sure that they are performed as originally intended. The Polynesian Show has been performed continuously since the Mai Kai was built in 1956. Photo really "pops" in the black background.
