Abandoned House on the Hill by cindymc

Abandoned House on the Hill

I was out driving around in the country yesterday and decided it was time to turn around and go home. I pulled into a driveway and saw this old house on the hill. I thought it still held some charm and I'll bet the view is wonderful.

Hope you're all having a good weekend. The weather here is unsually warm for this time of year. I just hope it doesn't rain all day so I can get out and take a few more pictures.
Oh this is just beautiful Cindy,....It looks like a scene from a film set, I love your processing too! : )

@annbo - Thanks, Ann! It's nice to see you're still on here. I plan to do the same when my year is up -- in only 4 more days!

beautiful shot and tones!

That house really does have character, and your composition has accentuated it beautifully. I'm not sure what it means by doing the same as Ann, but I hope you'll still be posting from time to time, at least. Enjoy your last few days!

@yellowdog - Thanks, Kelly. I really appreciate your support! I do plan to stay on but I won't be posting a daily picture. I'll probably go out on the weekends and take a few pictures and hopefully get a few decent ones to post that week. I can't just quit! I love it this place too much!

I love old abandoned houses in the country! Your capture and processing are excellent, Cindy. It has a bit of a creepy character, like a scene from an Alfred Hitchcock movie. If you get a chance, I have been photographing the gradual decline of a wonderful abandoned farmhouse for a while - check out my project entries of May 1, May 14, May 15 and October 8.

Its a beautiful old house. we have been out today driving looking for old homesteads but they are certainly in a very sad state of affairs. Well done its a great capture. Could be on the cover of a book.

Wonderful processing.
I always wonder what led to the abandonment of places like this. Somebody used to be happy here.....

this is a great shot Cindy, as is the processing. It's so sad to see places like this that have been abandoned.
Our warm up has ended up here in Indiana, looks like we could be in for some ice today.....oh boy!

such a pretty sky to set it off.

great find, like the sepia attaches much of an oldstyle atmosphere

It kind of has a creepy old movie kind of feel to it, I wouldn't be surprised if Mrs. Bates was sitting in her rocking chair at one of the bedroom windows.

Nicely done!

Beautifully composed... love those great big trees... wonderful to frame the house with, but what I like most are the color tones! Nice edit!

Nice!!

I must agree with Ann. This looks like a scene from a film set. I would really need to get far away from where I live to see anything like this then probably would never find it ;-) Spectacular find and beautiful shot. Love the tones to go with the vintage country setting.
