I spent an hour or so swimming and wading through the water here today - it was nice and quiet. During our peak season - starting around about November - this public beach in Grand Baie, situated in the north of the island, is usually packed with both tourists and Mauritians.
The building on the right is part of a complex of shops, apartments and restaurants called Sunset Boulevard. The restaurant seen here is Cafe de la Plage. The trees are mostly casuarina trees, locally known as filaos trees. I love the sound of a gentle wind blowing through them, it’s incredibly soothing.
