Elderberries in stages of ripeness and obviously by the look of them enjoyed by the birds!

Thank you for all your great comments and favs on yesterday's photo. I was unsure about posting but am glad I did!
I cut mine back after they flowered because the got to big, they can be a thug, but the are food for the birds.

They are tiny berries but they are on one flower head so you pick the flower head and they soon stack up!

Yes Dione, very edible, they make beautiful elderberry, wine at this time of year and the flowers make a lovely elderflower cordial, slightly perfumed and very refreshing. The tiny berries are sweetish to taste but are used mainly in wine making.
