The sweep of the bay is caught in this photo and shows the small beach on the other side of Whitby harbour. It's not known for its sandy beaches and as you can see it is for most of the time very muddy coloured sand. Whitby is better known more fishing, Captain Cook, Whitby Abbey, Count Dracula and fish and chips!!
It hosts Goth weekends twice a year and is a wonderful sight if you can get parked and take in all the pomp and ceremony of the occasion, they really do dress in their best outfits and are so well liked and well behaved. The seafront when we were there was just a line of black funeral cars and babies in push chairs dressed in black lace dresses[girls] with shocking pink ribbon and lace trims. The men wear knee high buckled boots polished to extremes and carry walking canes with silver handles, long trench coats wonderful waistcoats and hats. It was a sight to see and it keeps Whitby solvent as it brings a lot of business to to the shops.
Nice on black
Thank you for all your comments and favs all are so very much appreciated.
Beautiful! I have fond memories of whitby, we were once accidentally there at goth weekend. I remember a jonny depp lookalike... also remember drawing parts of the abbey on school trips
Nice to see Whitby from a different perspective, it's such a photogenic place. We were there last October for a weekend... the one before Goth weekend unfortunately.
