Not a happy tree...... by cutekitty

Not a happy tree......

.......my palm tree has suffered badly in the drought.....although he is awash with rainwater this week......not sure if he will survive, he has been dropping fronds for several weeks now and looking very sorry for his self.
Oh dear let’s hope it survives. I am guessing that it has adapted the the West Country weather rather than its country of origin.

Oh no, that would be such a pity! Maybe you can speak to a palm doctor and feed it with something special?

@wakelysThink he has been here for very many years......possibly from when the house was new (plant hunters were bringing back all sorts of vegetation then).....we have been here over 20 years and the previous owners for over 40 and it was there then..... fingers crossed for him.....

@ludwigsdiana Thinking of offering him a bottle of 'Scrumpy' cider....that seems to cure most problems !!!!!

i recognise this as a cordyline australis , we call them cabbage trees or ti kouka in New Zealand, not a palm at all, but i know you Brits like to call it a palm haha https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cordyline_australis

they are so hardy, I am surprised to see it so stressed, i think even if the top died back it could come back from the roots

I don’t blame it…many of our plants and grass are suffering with this extended heat wave! Terrible…we need more rain!
