July 26: The Lola or the Liberty

This window always catches my eye when I look at the Liberty Center for the arts. When this building opened, it was known as the Lona Theatre. The theatre showed movies. When the first talkie movie was shown there in 1928, the name was changed to the Liberty Center. The purpose of the building has changed through the years and will be changing more in the future. However, the purpose has always centered around entertainment. Currently, the building acts as a cultural and performing arts center. Educational workshops and events in both performing arts and visual arts are held here for children through teenagers. People can watch plays and hear music groups in the theater. Art exhibits are held in the loft art gallery. In the future, the building will undergo some rennovation. The offices will be moved upstairs into the art gallery area. Two art galleries will be added to the west side of the building. Even though my city is small in size, it has a strong arts and music culture for all ages. That is one of the main reasons I like my city. With this photo, I end the black and white fortnight theme of architectural details. Tomorrow, I will begin the sixth BW forthnight theme of light and shadow.
You've really shown us some interesting architecture from your city while working on the b&w theme. Nicely done.
