The native clematis has gone to seed. Although this clematis grows like a weed and climbs the fences and the fence posts, I like it for its beautiful blossoms and seeds. The white blossoms are only about one inch across and much smaller than the blossoms of the hybrid cousins. The native clematis blooms in late summer and into early Autumn. The blossoms are there at the right time to attract the butterflies. In November, the native clematis shows off its seeds with the feathery attachments. I like how the seeds glow white in the afternoon sunlight. I find the native clematis to be a blessing right in my own backyard.
