I don't think I have ever photographed an African Violet close up before. These blossoms are very interesting. I will have to do this again.
This shot is part of my exploration into Extraordinary Everyday Photography. This shot it specifically for Chapter 7: Creating Strong Compositions. The authors of this book say that it is common for photographers not to fill the frame. They say that filling the frame gives the subject impact. They say to always ask yourself if you are close enough. I am the opposite. I have to ask myself if there is a better way to shoot my subjects than taking a macro shot. When I got my digital camera, I loved getting close to the subject. In fact, I did this too much at times. Now, I work on also backing away to see if this provides a better composition. In this case, I may have been better off to back away. I did not really have the needed natural light to get a crisp macro shot.
