My mother would say, "It's lilac time!", when the lilacs had flower buds like this. She loved lilac blossoms. She would pick some blossoms and place them in a vase inside the house. When she was out in the yard, she would walk over to the lilac bushes and breathe in deeply. She did not smell other blossoms like that. Lilac was her scent.
I can almost smell it through your photo - love lilacs - ours has gotten rather contrary the last two years (it's over 40 years and been transplanted from our old house) - I miss when it had so many blooms each spring. Love your focus on the buds.
