Heavy hearts #ParklandStrong

The road in front of Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School has been partially re-opened. The media is still camped out across the street. This memorial has been set up by a man who erects these crosses/Stars of David where needed. :-( People were streaming in and out to leave flowers, etc. and pay respects. A friend went to his niece's funeral yesterday and thousands were there, including our Governor. It is a difficult thing to see in person.
It becomes real...more heartbreaking...and an undeniable horror to see it played out and reported by a friend... I can hardly conceive of the pain that families and friends feel when this was so senseless, and becoming clear it might have been stopped! My heart is with you all.

Listening to the kids. I’m not sure but it feels like this might have been the tipping point. It feels like something serious has changed for the better in the energy they are responding with.

Thank you for doing this..I have been listening to the students' speeches; I know the area well; your photo puts into perspective what is truly important. Lest we forget.

@Weezilou @pandorasecho @777margo @granagringa @kwind @mittens @joannakate @joannakate thank you all for your comments. I have since learned that this man, Greg Zanis, drove from Illinois to bring these crosses that he made. You can find him on Facebook: Crosses for Losses.

Such a tragic thing to happen . . . again. As an outsider looking in, I can't believe more isn't being done to prevent this atrocities :(

I agree with Paul .... it seems that we would have done something, changed things by now. What will it take? How many more must we lose? Our precious children. So sad. Thank you for posting this image.

My heart is heavy as one of my friends today travels to her family member's funeral. She's from GA, but one of the students is her family member. It would have been her 15th birthday today. My eternal hope is that our legislators will take a step forward in honoring the "well-regulated" language of the 2nd amendment. Bless the children for their voices.

@darylo My heart goes out to your friend. Our church is holding four of the funerals. We've had many services directed towards healing the community. I had the privilege of attending the church staff meeting yesterday where our pastor directed healing words toward the staff to get them through these days so that others can get through their pain and suffering. While I don't know what the ultimate outcome of "change" looks like, there will be change. I am hoping that loving one another is included in our future.
