Moving History

Our area in S. Florida is not old. The McNab House is nearly 100 years old. It was owned by a pioneer in our area. Fact is, I have driven by this house how many hundreds of times without even knowing it was there! I've driven on roads named after him without even knowing the history. Since the home was on a huge parcel of land on a main road, the family chose to sell the land to a developer. Th developer was going to demolish the house until the City stepped in. Today, they are moving this house 4 blocks to a city park. It will take them hours to do so and several million dollars. After 2 hours, they still had not cleared the first traffic light. Many crews were in force to move everything out of the way for this major move. It has been decades since any homes have been moved in our area. I was happy to see so many people out watching this historic event.
That is so interesting and fascinating. I wonder what the park is going to use it for.

Amazing capture! I find it crazy an entire house can be moved and survive. I have seen this a few times. I love preserving some historical homes and buildings.
