Old photos with new edits, no favs please (trying to honor those who are submitting new photos). :)
The night my friend arrived to meet me in Bali (I had been there a full day before), my driver took us to Jimbaran beach for an on-the-beach seafood dinner (really good, really beautiful). I was using my camera handheld in very imperfect light, so all the photos I'm going to edit from this setting are going to pull on strong editing features that make the photographs feel more like paintings. I love the multiple narratives in this shot from the man with his horse, to the teens, to the single woman, two other pairs and mother and child. The reflections are beautiful with the tiny silhouettes of the boats in the background. To say this was one hell of a way to say Welcome to Bali would be an understatement. It was truly a scene I've never experienced again, except through re-editing the lot of photos (not sure I posted this one ever--will look). I did "start over" from my previous edits, and I'm not sure this improves the scene much, but my initial edits cropped out the man and his horse. This crop involved eliminating much of the sky in the shot. Not sure I can get it to be less grainy, so I played it up. I did some adjustments, then worked in Color Efex Pro, then some more edits in LR. Probably too complicated. May take another crack at it from scratch tomorrow. Critique welcome (always welcome).
