I took a photo of my raclette coils heating up the other night, and if I didn't take a photo I liked today, I had it sitting "in the wings." This is NOT that photo!
Today, my daughter Kira and I went to the Korean market (HMart) to find all of the ingredients of aJapanese dish called Chawan-mushi, an egg-custard dish with chicken, mushrooms, and shrimp (and other things--all that had very Japanese names -- something that I knew might be a problem in a primarily Korean market).
While we shopped for the various items called "Bonito Flakes" or "Kamaboko" or "Kombu"--all Japanese terms, but thankfully, I had a smart phone to show images and Korean translations to the various employees in the stores - we sampled potstickers, fish meal, and blood sausages. When we passed the red meat section, we noticed large packages of rib-eye sliced very thin! Both of us looked at each other: RACLETTE time!
For those of you who do not know what a raclette is, it is a table top grill that allows for grill cooking on the top and there is a shelf below that allows pans to cook or heat up cheeses, veggies, and other goodies. The thinly sliced meats were ideal for a raclette night and I was loving the fact that I did not have to do any prep! I had plenty of cheeses, veggies, and now shitake mushrooms from our Asian market!
So, here are the Raclette coils heating up for our table top cooking meal! Bon Appetit!
@judis Thanks so much Judi. I have to say this is one of my favorites so far--I think it is because I am in love with cooking. The coils are a good subject!
