Backyard Bird

I have no idea what kind of bird this is, but he kept hopping on top of the fence in the backyard today. Manual focus was a bit of a stretch today too, so not everything came out very well, but he kept moving!

Got some squirrels today too--such funny creatures! Anyone have an idea as to type of bird?

It's some type of Wren...Carolina? Marsh? depends on your location! It looks a lot like the Bewick's Wrens that are very common here. Great shot:)

@jo13 Thanks so much for your kind comments -- "chuffed!" I love that expression! @vskolnik I live near Atlanta, GA, and I was thinking a wren of some sorts too! I just looked up the Carolina wren and I do believe you are correct! Love the little stripes and the fat belly! :)

It looks like the Marsh Wren in my bird book but like Vee posted it depends on where you live. In any case, this is a great photo. It looks like he posed for you.

@foxsparrow @judis It was a cute little wren! I'm thinking a Carolina wren, but if it was a Marsh wren, then it'd be migrating--oh what fun to be a birder now! Just like taking photos, I have LOTS to learn.

A wren!!! My favorite bird! Seriously! They always visit me and we've even had one in the house. I think Carolina wren as well. Very nice! How about if I come visit and we'll go birding?
