I've been taking so many shots (unsuccessfully) of sweet gum tree "balls," but today, I finally captured one caught on its way down to earth. If you have these little treats in your yard and you like to go barefoot like I do, you will find these little wonders set you to howling in pain. I love them, though. They look like globes of baby bird beaks open for Mom to feed them worms!
