Rainy day in Fernandina--took the kids to "Old Town" where Fernandina was originally settled. We watched buzzards gather (about 8 of them) in some branchy trees. The girls then flew the one kite we had (in the mist). In the distance, you could see what drives the area's industry/economy--paper mills. The stench of paper mill emissions is pretty horrible. My shot here initially would not show the exhaust going out the long industrial chimneys so I decided to edit as much as possible to show the lovely color in Old Town (as I got wet in the mist and watched the kite flyers), in contrast to the ominous feel of the paper mills in the distance. So, ETSOOI.
Great processing. The correct tag is etsooi-7 (there is some discussion re: this on the thread) I lived in a pulp/paper producing town for quite a long time and you are right the stench is overpowering. Before the EPA standards went into effect -- people's paint was eaten right off their siding on the houses. Imagine what breathing that air was doing to our lungs and other organs! Thanks so much for your 365 friendship and support and special thanks for your fav on my Reflected Glory photo.
