OK, I'm going to admit, I'm IN LOVE with my macro clip--I'm also looking pretty funny, off balance half the time and taking some really awful pics of bugs because I MUST stay still, and I'm not good at that--a tripod wouldn't work with moving subjects anyway. Today, while one daughter was cleaning out the pots for our garden (she's going to paint them!!), I went around the yard trying out my macro clip.
Just an FYI too, I put the clip today on my zoom lens (75-300mm) just to see if it would work, so this is with that arrangement (beyond where the clip is "supposed" to work, I believe--but why not tryyyyy I always say!). I love how the focus is on one spot but the rest is so faded and the light was perfect for the shot.
I almost fell over, though! My daughter DID see that and just shook her head. I don't blame her.
Still working in the garden today! So back to the weeding. UGH!
haha! My family gives me those head shakes all the time:) This is awesome! FAV for trying new things to create awesome images:) Great job. Hope you didn't hurt yourself.
Wonderful shot. I find that when the clip is on my zoom I only have a slither of focus unless I use a higher f stop, which means less light and the necessity of a tripod, its all about give and take!!
@nanderson Hey Nancy! The clip is called a "Raynox DCR 250 Converter" and it is super easy to install and clips right onto the camera lens so it's easy on and off! I've successfully put it on my two kit lenses (the 18-55 and the 70-300). You can get it on Amazon for about 75 US dollars, but @Jo13 also got hers from Amazon UK. A good deal if you can't swing a real macro (I can't--so this is a good fit for now!).
@darylo Thank you so much Daryl for your help. I have a macro but this seems way easier than always changing the lenses all the time since I change my mind all the time..haha. I am going to check it out...appreciate your fine pics and your hilarious narratives! People like you make 365 for me. :) thanks again!
Terrific! Fav! I am same way with my macro lens! Get all contorted and then hard to HOLD STILL to get a clear pic. I have to hold my breath and try to freeze. This shot paid off for putting up with that and the looks your daughter gave you. Hee hee
I purchased an attachment for my iPhone and I'm in love with mine too! Like MaryBeth, I have to hold my breath and freeze to get the shot, but so worth it. I feel like a whole new world has opened up for me! Great shot!
@bobfoto Wow, thanks Jason! I love reading your narratives and looking at your photos. Following back. The "clip" is called a "Raynox DCR 250 Converter" and it is super easy to install and clips right onto the camera lens. No screwing anything...which I like. That just sounded so wrong, but what the hey. :) I met up with some other 365ers today and handed over my clip to give someone else a try--easy peasy.
@darylo - sounds really interesting, but maybe something I don't necessarily need right now. I love it when you can meet up with other 365ers and I often say things like "wish I was there" when i hear about others around this globe that do. It really is a cool community!
@bobfoto it was my poor woman's fix for now. My husband gave me my camera that came with two kit lenses. This was my first official purchase to do something new! I'm almost six months into this project and everything I have learned is in that time--seeing someone from the community today was a real thrill--these ladies are all in their second year. And if you come to the ATL area, we'll do a walkabout! I love "traveling" with everyone on this site!
