Well, I've achieved the "Best Parent" and "Worst Parent" titles at precisely the same moment now. It has been a tough quest, but I can now cross this one off my parenting bucket list!
At 12:01 a.m., my youngest daughter and I succeeded in being one of the first 150 customers at the grand opening of the latest Krispy Kreme donut shop in Roswell--at midnight--on a school night. The first 150 customers received a gift card for a free dozen donuts monthly for a year, and a t-shirt to mark the occasion.
At the new store, the process of making the donuts is fully visible to the customer, and only in America can you watch exactly how death on a ring of dough is created and still choose to eat the thing.
I instantly recognized this hot and ready sign... so glad there isn't one close to me... I would be in worse need of a gym membership than I am now! Nothing like a hot glazed Krispy Kreme doughnut~ (and your daughter will remember this night fondly!)
That's donut dedication!
We have one of these where i work and i remember the massive queue on opening day - all for the first few customers to get some freebies for a year!
LOL. You write so well. This brings back memories of a group of people who used to fly out to our office in San Francisco, maybe 18 years ago, before Krispy Kreme was on the west coast. We made them hand carry donuts to us if they wanted to attend the meeting.
@colie@jodimuli@nancy65@genesis_one@jo13@darrenboyj@squamloon@grammyn@timandelke@catwoman2@danette@rvwalker@mariaostrowski@steampowered@quietpurplehaze Thanks all! It was nice to know my trusty phone camera would get a decent capture for this night. I grew up going to THE ORIGINAL Krispy Kreme in Atlanta--and over the years, I've watched the franchise expand. When I met my husband (he's from NY), he took me to a donut shop in White Plains, and I looked at him like "what the heck is this dry dough you call a donut?" They are addicting, they are horrible for you, but dang if I cannot resist one. I'm not really happy it is down the street from where I live to be honest, but for the year, we'll be picking up one dozen a month for free. I'll be the winner for JUST ONE MOMENT in my daughter's eyes, and I'll be the mother others will not trust with their children. LOL. Oh, and Ross, that is so funny about only allowing admittance after some KK's were hand delivered. And @squamloon oh, Dunkin Donuts....bleeeeech. :)
LOL. Congrats on your parenting achievement. ;) Krispy Kremes make my teeth hurt but they're SO good. Luckily, I think the closest one is in Des Moines or Omaha, so I m only tempted a couple times a year. Nice shot!

I've actually never had the pleasure of visiting a Krispy Kreme. But I'm given to understand that they're something quite apart from Dunkin.
