My get-pushed challenge this week is"to celebrate [my] love of words in pictures - open to however [I] choose to interpret that."
Today's photo is on the left in this collage, but the other three are from 2010 when I did my first Sprint Triathlon. Before and after the race, my children wrote words to me...in the sand at the lake, on posters, and finally as a "medal" to go with the badass bling I would receive from the official race sponsors at Lake Lanier.
The other day, I posted something from my corkboard in my office that showed how words can bring pain--today, I'm showing joy, wonder, excitement. It was a fantastic day--a struggle, but fun since my family and friends came to cheer me on--with WORDS of encouragement and praise! On the right side, my daughter's poster says, "Go Mom! You're Crazy in a Good Way!"
If you want to know about my "Journey to Badassness" as I call it, feel free to check out my blog. It's funny. I promise.
I love my kids. They are turning into teens and I'm not sure they'd give me this same award these days, but this memento I'll NEVER destroy. :)
Love your narratives and love the treasures you have in these words. You did such an awesome job on this challenge and captured in words so many of my own feelings about word and language. I look forward to checking out your blog.
Interestingly, I am a blogger also - I write reviews of the books I read - my memories of the words that have been part of my life. If you'd like to check it out, the link is in my profile.
cool. lovely collage and yay you doing triathlons! are you still doing them? ive enjoyed running in the past, and am hoping to get back into it next year at the end of my college course. at the mo,
theres just no time!
@jaynspain Oh, and I haven't done a tri for over a year now. The last one I did was part of a 70.1 Iron Man relay with my cousins. I swam 1.2 miles down the Savannah River in Augusta, GA. I'm not a good runner at all--years of sports have wrecked my knees. My mom and I did an aqua bike (swim, then bike) the summer before. So much fun. I'm sloooooooow, old, and well, nothing really like a badass, but I'm calling myself it regardless. Will have to get back in shape AGAIN. I hate that I let it all go. :(
Now these are words you'll ALWAYS want to remember. And even if as teenagers you don't hear them, they're under the surface and come back toward their 20s!
@stimuloog I'm a middle-aged, saggy, wish-I-could-do-sports-like-I-used-to gal, but I get in shape doing these events. I have had a year lapse, though. Sigh.
