I scrambled at 11:45 pm to take a shot yesterday thinking I had not taken one all day, but when I loaded the card, I forgot I had taken a shot of this cross on top of an odd church on Alpharetta Hwy. I was driving, but when I came to a stop-light, I looked up, saw the cross, grabbed my camera and click. On I went.
Later in the day, the following happened:
I prepped for a holiday party I have at my house each year--this year, it was going to be smaller, but I make most of the food and I'm always a bit anxious beforehand.
We got a call regarding my mother-in-law, who lives in Mexico--she's in hospital (not conscious and we were not given enough details to know what to do). We found ourselves in "how do we contact her?" mode as she lives by herself and we were trying to figure things out from neighbors who were kind to call. So we're in limbo. I'm the only one with a current passport, so things are in the air.
I had my party--gathered with some great folks. But back in my mind is -- what are we going to do?
My photo in no way implies some kind of tie-in to my connectedness and lostness (Yes, I know, not a word). It was just the best out of the bunch of my drive-by shots. It was this cross or Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake on SNL dressed up as brothers Gibb with a flash of Madonna.
I decided to go with this one. :)
I'm not sure what is going to happen in these next few days. I may be in Mexico; I may be here. We are hoping for a report and signs of recovery very soon.
Kind regards to you and your family. It is very hard coping with an ill family member and even harder at Christmas time when travel is more difficult. I hope your mother in law recovers quickly. Take care of yourself also. Lovely shot.
Very lovely shot. I am so very sorry about your MIL. I hear you will be in touch with Greg. Thanks for thinking of him at this stressful time. I do hope your MIL gets better soon for YOUR sake! Prayers your way.
@danette thanks. I feel Soooo bad after just saying it's all a go. We will make decisions tomorrow after we learn more. It's all not good unfortunately.
Oh gosh, Daryl, what a sad thing to be dealing with especially at the holidays. It must be hard too, since your mother-in-law lives alone. I'll be thinking of you and wishing you the best. I know it's hard to have a 'happy holiday' but I do hope things are well for you and your family. And this is a lovely shot, well composed and striking.
@danette check out the photos I took of suggested locations (they are all dispersed in my albums from today and I put some extras going forward in case I am not able to post). I am leaving Christmas day. So bummed, but I've sent an email with some photo suggestions. Merry Christmas. Wish I could be of more help. :(
@darylo I will check your albums but Greg showed me the email photos. How stunning! I might have to hide in their trunk! You have helped us tremendously. We are thinking the fountain would be best. It appears his old roommate is going to help. We both definitely appreciate your help and I hope all goes well with your MIL.
