I have run out of buds in my yard to investigate. Pay no mind to me in your side, back, and front yards swaying back and forth, holding my breath to get a macro shot with my macro clip. I'll be back a total of 3 more times this month to see how this particular bud progresses over time.

To the science of the matter: I believe this is a Camellia bud. I THINK a Camellia japonica. Will have to discover later as it progresses.
Beautiful furry texture, love the subtle color -- nice to know other neighborhoods have crazy plant and bird ladies -- not to mention totally insane squirrel ladies!
