Ahh, my favorite tree in my front yard. It's almost in the full explosion stage, and happily, I have been able to trace the same bud to the full bloom stage. There is one small holdout, but I think it's there to remind us that beauty takes time.
My editing in LR5 was for clarity, and trying to eliminate any really blownout highlights (top right corner and the top central left). I used radial filters on all of the bloom centers to provide more clarity and sharpness while smoothing at the same time. I bumped up the contrast at the end only slightly, and I did take up the saturation of "magenta" to highlight the differences of the blossoms that still retain their pink (they are still in the process of full-bloom).
To see the progression of this bud to bloom, see the monthly view. It's a stunning progression!
It's quite windy, so I'm fortunate to have been able to get such a crisp shot, and the light was pretty this morning as I rushed off for a lunch date.
Tonight, I serve as the photographer for our middle school's "International Night." I'm pretty excited for this event because it really does put on display the languages and celebrations of so many nations (not just the French, Spanish, and Japanese language course offerings). Parents, students, and grandparents will provide henna tattoos, calligraphy, origami, international dishes, and so much more.
So happy today. It's been a rough week, so to see my favorite bloom cooperate for the last week of macro-march, well, I'm chuffed!

I'm a horrible commenter. I am looking at shots. Just so much going on I can't even get a moment to say anything! But I love this shot, I love this month's observation of nature's slow beauty. Next month, I'll shift focus to abstracts and structural shots. I had so much fun being the photographer at my children's middle school international night. Our school is so diverse and wonderful. Thanks again for all the lovely comments and favs and such! You are all too kind.
