We will host a Japanese student this weekend, and we thought it might be fun to construct a homemade gingerbread house with her (an O'Hare tradition in Nov. usually). Mike and Aidan are making the dough ahead of time and will cook the walls/roof/chimney, so our student can just do the decorating and house raising. :)
It's nice to share a unique O'Hare tradition. We'll also take her on the haunted corn maze at a local dairy farm! And the mall! And the old Roswell Mill for a hike. I sure hope the weather is nice! :)
From scratch!!! Wow, I'm impressed. We usually decorate one of those crappy pre packaged ones. Make sure you sure the final product! Your Japanese student will love being with your family!
Oh, fun. She will love that. We did a Thanksgiving dinner with some foreign military officers several years ago. It was really interesting to watch them look at our Thanksgiving feast and have no idea what any of it was! LOL!
@888rachel@lleo@lisatown@nanalisarocks@danette@homeschoolmom@kwind@grammyn Katy has seen my crazy child. This look is about norm! We are ready (now that house is clean, thank the good lord--am I the only one who feels like the world is great when the house is in order?). heading to bed. Finally posted some photos in my camera tonight. But had to load them on laptop as my desktop is still not back to working order (it works; I just haven't transferred files). Either way, we will celebrate a girl name Yua from Okinawa for 3 days! Woohoo!
What a funny pair of expressions, but both clearly having a great time. BTW, that flower int he corner really works in this composition. Wouldn't have thought of it!
