As my friends here know, I love birds, and for the first two years, I spent most of my time on 365 chasing them, observing them, and really working on being a good bird photographer. But over a year ago, my zoom auto feature broke. So the furthest distance I can get is about 150. This shot is SEVERELY cropped, but can you imagine what scenes I could have caught with a good distance piece of glass and my 7D MII? It kills me, but I am not ready to purchase a new lens after a new kitchen and two summer trips coming up that are killing the bank. But I am dropping the FFFFFF BOMB today because I had so much fun watching this crow and hawk (and later two crows) fuss with each other.
I feel your pain-I have never had a good zoom lens-mainly because photography equipment is just ridiculously expensive. It sounds like you had a good time watching the birds though and still got some good shots!
As soon as I read the first sentence before I even saw who had posted the photo I felt certain it was you. You have managed to get some terrific shots with the equipment you have.
I fully understand. My camera is having issues as well. Sometimes I have a hard time getting it to focus. I'm a little surprised that the hawk put up with it. My husband's game camera caught a hawk eating. He was surrounded by really large turkey vultures, but they were afraid of the hawk.
