In the courtyard of the Shrine, there are these racks of prayer placards allowing visitors to offer their thoughts and prayers. As some of you know, I left for Japan abruptly after my father-in-laws funeral. I felt quite sad these first days, and each visit to a Shrine offered solace and time to myself to reflect in peace (the whole process of funeral arrangements for my father-in-law was all but comforting). Being in Japan gave me an escape from the societal pressures of doing things "properly" and I liked how I could visit shrines and explore my options of grief. At each shrine I visited in Tokyo and in Kyoto, I opted to buy a small remembrance of Tom, taking him with me one small prayer request at a time.
Edited in the new Nik Collection--pleased with the preset options--saves a good bit of time. In fact, I plan on posting a few before (SOOC) and after editing to show those of you interested in processing to see how my RAW images first edited in LR5, and then edited in Nik, produced much better results!
How interesting and the symmetry of this shot reminds me of the rows of candles in the cathedral we visited yesterday. Your visits to the shrines sound very comforting. I shall be interested in before/after shots.
This image is just right for showing the rituals through which one can process the many emotions of life. Looking forward to you showing LR.NIK comparisons!
